Scoats is an Artist He don't look back. |
I took the plunge a while back and decided to call myself an artist. My work includes collaberating with Xoxo on the tile murals in the Grey Lodge Pub Restrooms. I have also designed several Grey Lodge T-shirts. A while back I did an apartment entrance mosaic. I have always considered The Grey Lodge Pub to be an art project as well as a business. There is also an element of art in the databases I build. Is that enough to make me an aritst? I don't know. I asked DMA Morris, who did the Grey Lodge murals. He said as soon as I sell something I can call myself an artist. I've sold a few T-shirts, so I guess that makes me an artist. I asked Xoxo, who said "of course" I was an artist. My architect buddy Lou called me an artist last year and lately people have been asking me art questions. I was thinking that a benefit of being an artist is that it would be an excuse for a certain amount of eccentricty, but Duzer pointed out that most people think artists are weird anyway. And I don't really need any excuses. My latest thought on the subject is that if Louie Anderson can call himself a comedian, I can call myself an artist. Back to Scoats's Home Page. |
